A New Role…Slack Community Leader!

1–2 minutes

October is flying by, I just know it will be 2024 before I can blink!

The new month bought a new opportunity, and I’m pretty excited to be the Slack Community Leader of the only Slack Chapter in the APAC region. This came about after connecting with folks in the Community, specifically during Dreamforce.

:slack-hearts:

I’ve already been expanding my Slack skills over the last year, with the addition of the Slack Admin and Consultant credentials. I could see there was a vibrant community out there via the Slack Champion & Slack Community Workspaces, but it felt quite distant due to the timing of the Community Events, even though they are online and the recordings are available, the middle of the night live sessions just don’t work for us in the APAC region.

After connecting and chatting with Jacob Gross who is the Community Marketing Manger at Slack during Dreamforce, I was inspired to apply to fill this role. My hope is to create a space for the local community to connect and share ideas and solutions in real time, and generally geek out over all the things Slack can do.

The timing was perfect, as we finalised the role the day the Slack City Tour was in Melbourne, and I was able to share in person the details of the first event with the local community.

The event wrapped up with a session with Cal Henderson, the Slack CTO & Co-Founder, followed by a lively Q&A. All in all, it was an informative day, and I learned there is alot to look forward to in this space.

If only we are selected to participate in the beta programs and get an early look into what’s on the roadmap…….
